ACNB Bank Presents Volunteer of the Year Awards
ACNB Bank recently presented the 2018 Volunteer of the Year Award to employees Andrew P. Heck, Senior Vice President/Regional Commercial Lending Manager, and George F. Marguglio, Assistant Vice President/Commercial Loan Officer, in recognition of their community involvement. The primary community organizations supported by these staff members received a $1,000 contribution from ACNB Bank to acknowledge this exemplary volunteer service.
In honor of ACNB Bank’s 160th Anniversary, the Bank introduced the Volunteer of the Year Award in 2017 to recognize staff members who represent the true spirit of giving back to the community as volunteers. In its second year, this award program also serves to highlight the important work of the community organizations represented by the award winners.
“ACNB Bank’s 2018 honorees serve in leadership volunteer positions with multiple organizations in our market area and represent the true spirit of community banking at ACNB Bank, which includes lending their financial expertise and other important skills to benefit others,” said James P. Helt, ACNB Bank President & CEO.
Mr. Heck has served the commercial lending needs of Carroll County, MD, with NWSB Bank, a division of ACNB Bank, and the former New Windsor State Bank for the past eight years. He received the 2018 Volunteer of the Year Award in recognition of his volunteer leadership with seven different community organizations in Carroll County, MD, contributing a total of 322 hours of service in 2017. These organizations include the American Red Cross, Business Advocates for Veterans, Community Ties, Carroll Lutheran School, Mount Airy Parks and Recreation, St. Michaels Catholic Church, and Warfield Development Corp. Mr. Heck selected the Western Maryland Chapter of the American Red Cross as the recipient of ACNB Bank’s $1,000 contribution.
With a passion for serving the American Red Cross as a member of the board of directors, Mr. Heck is highly regarded by his peers as a dedicated volunteer leader. “Drew recognizes there are needs within every community and encourages others to support and become engaged within their areas of influence,” said Beverley Rowe Stambaugh, American Red Cross Western Maryland Chapter Executive Director.
“Drew and his wife, Laura, organized a successful 5K Walk on Saturday, April 14, in Mt. Airy, Maryland, to benefit the Western Maryland Chapter,” she added.
Mr. Marguglio joined ACNB Bank in 2002 as a staff accountant in the tax and accounting department and currently works with the Bank’s commercial customers throughout Adams County, PA, as a loan officer. He received the 2018 Volunteer of the Year Award in recognition of his more than 460 hours of dedicated service in 2017 to four organizations including the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity Alumni Association affiliated with Gettysburg College, Gettysburg C.A.R.E.S., Inc., Gettysburg Presbyterian Church, and Kiwanis Club of Gettysburg. Mr. Marguglio serves as treasurer for these organizations and pitches in to help wherever needed, which includes overseeing the annual sale of 10,000 or more pounds of blueberries for the Kiwanis Club.
Mr. Marguglio selected Gettysburg C.A.R.E.S., Inc. as the recipient of ACNB Bank’s $1,000 contribution. “Our board members describe George as a dedicated volunteer leader who is genuinely interested in the organization’s mission. We feel very fortunate that George is our treasurer,” said Mary Stevenson, Gettysburg C.A.R.E.S., Inc. Board Chairman.
“In its sixth year of operation, Gettysburg C.A.R.E.S. works with 14 local churches to provide individuals and families with overnight shelter from October through April. A resource center is available for guests to shower, do their laundry, apply for jobs and services, reestablish independence, and improve the quality of their lives,” she added.
