In an area as vibrant as the one we live in, it may be hard to believe that one out of five adults and children go hungry every day in Adams County.
Food pantries, shelters, and soup kitchens struggle to keep their pantries stocked for the benefit of low-income families, unemployed and underemployed people, and individuals on modest fixed-incomes --- including the elderly and people with disabilities. These programs depend on the generosity of our community to stock their shelves and families rely on these programs for their daily meals. They need our help.
On October 1, United Way of Adams County, in partnership with ACNB Bank, Gettysburg Times and Kennie's Market, will kick off the 13th Annual Bag the Bounty Food Drive. The food drive runs throughout the month of October and will benefit 14 food programs serving the Adams County and Hanover area. The goal this year is to collect and distribute 10,000 lbs. of nonperishable food and personal hygiene items.
As in previous years, each ACNB Bank office that has a lobby in the Adams County and Hanover area will serve as a drop-off food collection site. Please consider picking up a few extra items when you go grocery shopping this month and visit one of our offices in Adams County and Hanover to drop off your donation.
Great things happen when we live UNITED! Thank you, in advance, for your support of this community-wide effort.
