BANKING DAY AT HACC

For the second year in a row, the Gettysburg Campus of Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC), held Banking Day for its students and staff. It took place on Wednesday, September 1. For Banking Day, HACC invites area financial institutions to set up displays in the Hub, featuring their products and services for the students and staff.

HEART WALK

Sunday, September 12, was the annual Heart Walk, sponsored by the American Heart Association (AHA). The Bank has participated in this event for many years, and this year was no different. What was different, however, was the rain. For the first time in 18 years, it rained at the Heart Walk! Nonetheless, the rain didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits. 43 employees, as well as family members and friends, formed the Bank’s team. Over $6,800 was raised by the team! Thanks to employees who supported the team members with donations or volunteered to help the AHA in other ways.

COMMUNITY SHRED EVENT

The Bank held its fourth Community Shred Event on Saturday, September 25. This year, the event was held in conjunction with the United Way of Adams County’s Annual Day of Caring. All-Shred, the Bank’s document shredding vendor, came on-site to the Bank’s Operations Center and shredded confidential and personal documents of community members in the Adams County area. When organizing Community Shred Events, the Bank works with the County of Adams Department of Environmental Services. They take reservations from people who called ahead of time to register for the event. A goodwill donation of $2/box is collected, along with donations to the Bag the Bounty food drive. This year, $616 was raised and donated to the United Way’s Day of Caring activities. About 200 pounds of food was collected for Bag the Bounty, and 7,500 pounds of documents were shredded.
