SEPTEMBER 2009
AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION ANNUAL HEART WALK
The American Heart Association Annual Heart Walk was held on Sunday, September 14. Forty seven employees, along with friends and family members, raised $7,703. A special thank you to Karen Helwig, Customer Contact Center, who organized and motivated the team as team captain and to the employees who participated by either walking, raising money or volunteering their time.
BANKING SERVICES DAY
The Gettysburg Campus of Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) held a Banking Services Day on Wednesday, September 16. HACC invited financial institutions in the Adams County/Hanover area to set up tables and promote their products and services to students and staff members. The Bank’s booth focused on promoting Extra Credit - Student Line of Credit, as well as checking accounts. Thanks to employees who manned the booth.
COMMUNITY SHRED EVENT
The third community shred event took place on Saturday, September 19. The Bank, in conjunction with the shredding and recycling firm, Shred-it, and the assistance of the Adams County Department of Environmental Services, provided the community with another opportunity to safely discard old, personal, confidential documents. Over 1,000 pounds of documents were shredded and will be recycled to manufacture household paper products. As with past events, this was free to the general public. Attendees were simply asked to register ahead of time, and a goodwill offering was accepted on behalf of the Land Conservancy of Adams County and the United Way of Adams County. $402 was raised, with $201 going to the Land Conservancy of Adams County and $201 going to United Way of Adams County. Thank you to the employees who spent their Saturday morning helping.
COUNTRY FEST
Irishtown Fire Company held their 10th Annual Country Fest on Saturday, September 19. For the past several years, the event has been held in honor of Kris Poist, who was a member of the fire company. This event is a fun community-oriented event---the Bank’s booth included activities for children and adults. A good time was had by all who attended! Many thanks to Laura McCusker who coordinated the booth and activities, as well as the employees who assisted with the event.
