SEPTEMBER 2008

AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION ANNUAL HEART WALK

The Bank has been a proud supporter and participant in the American Heart Association's Annual Heart Walk for numerous years. This year, the walk was held on Sunday, September 14. A total of 46 employees, as well additional friends and family members, walked or volunteered in conjunction with the event. The team raised $8,006 for the American Heart Association. Many thanks to Karen Helwig, Customer Contact Center, who organized and motivated the team as the team captain. And, thanks to all the employees who walked or volunteered their time.

COMMUNITY SHRED EVENT

For the second time, the Bank sponsored a community shred event at its Operations Center in Gettysburg. With the tremendous response from the first event in April, it simply made sense to provide the community another chance to safely discard their old, confidential documents. Held on Saturday, September 20, the Bank once again worked with the shredding firm Shred-It, as well as Adams County Environmental Services. Attendees registered prior to the day of the event. On that day, donations were collected for the Land Conservancy of Adams County. A total of 5,200 pounds of documents were shredded and will be recycled into household paper products. The donations totaled $275. Thanks to all staff members who helped out that day.

SPELLING BEE

2008 marked the seventh year that the Bank has entered the Adams County Literacy Council's Annual Spelling Bee. This event, which took place on September 30, raises funds for the organization's scholarship program. For the second time, Anne Turley, Jeff Pottorff, and Nicole Redden, encompassed the Bank's team. They were cheered on by other Bank staff members at the event. The team did well, taking turns at spelling some unusual, challenging words.
