OCTOBER 2008

HOMECOMING AT THE BRETHREN HOME

October 3rd marked a homecoming celebration for residents of The Brethren Home in New Oxford. The celebration was planned to be similar to what takes place at high school homecoming dances. There was live music, festive decorations and people who attended were welcome to dress as formal as they wished. The Brethren Home looked to local organizations to provide volunteers to accompany the residents at the homecoming. Several Bank employees volunteered their time to join the residents at the event.

RAYAC ANNUAL MARKETPLACE EVENT

For several years, the Bank's Retail Mortgage department has participated in the Realtors' Association of York and Adams Counties' (RAYAC) annual Marketplace event. It is held in conjunction with RAYAC's annual business meeting. This year, the show took place on October 10 at the York Expo Center. Retail Mortgage staff members enjoyed greeting attendees as they stopped by the booth.

DILLSBURG FARMERS FAIR

For over 90 years, Dillsburg has held its annual Farmers Fair celebration. This event, which is several days long, culminates in a fun-filled event on Saturday, which includes a craft show, food vendors, a parade, games for children, and many other activities. The final day in 2008 was Saturday, October 18. For the second year in a row, the Bank set up a booth at the event. Bank staff members gave away free popcorn and enjoyed visiting with hundreds of people who stopped by.

GETTYSBURG ADAMS CHAMBER BUSINESS EXPO

The Gettysburg Adams Chamber of Commerce Business Expo took place on Tuesday, October 21, at Gateway Gettysburg. The Bank's booth was decorated in the theme of the TV show “The Addams Family”, which was also incorporated into the Bank's float for the Halloween parades. Bank staff members dressed as characters from the show as part of the theme. The booth earned an award for the most attention-getting booth!

GETTYSBURG AND HANOVER HALLOWEEN PARADES

For the very first time, the Bank participated in the Halloween Parades held in Gettysburg and Hanover. Incorporating the theme of “The Addams Family”, the float was designed to look like the Addams Family's home. In each parade, several Bank staff members dressed up as members of the Addams family. One of the employees went above and beyond in dressing up like Uncle Fester. He offered to shave his head if Bank staff employees would contribute up to $500 to the Children's Advocacy Center of Adams County. Fellow staff members didn't hold back---they contributed $525 to get him to shave his head! Other Bank staff members accompanied the float by walking along the parade route and handing out candy to children.
