SEPTEMBER 2007
HANOVER CHILI COOK-OFF
The Hanover Chili Cook-Off took place on Sunday, September 2. Bank staff members set up a tent and donned on their aprons to cook and serve up many batches of chili for the thousands of people who attended the event. Proceeds from the event support four local charities in the Hanover area. A fun time was had by all!
AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION HEART WALK
For many years, the Bank has been a proud supporter and participant in the American Heart Association's Annual Heart Walk. This year, the Walk was chaired by our very own Ron Hankey, Chairman of ACNB Corporation and Adams County National Bank. Held on Sunday, September 9, the Bank entered its largest team ever with 89 volunteering, people raising money and walking in the event. Of that number, 65 were employees. Thanks to all our employee efforts, especially Karen Helwig, the Bank raised the most money it ever has---$10,473! This was also the most raised out of all the other organizations who participated.
EAST BERLIN COMMUNITY DAY
Saturday, September 23, marked Community Day at the East Berlin Office. The day consisted of various activities for those in the East Berlin area. The event was headed up by Ginny Huntsberry, Market Sales Manager for that office and the Northeastern market. There were games for children and a prize drawing was conducted to raise money for the AHA Heart Walk. Customers displayed antique and classic cars. A dance group had the chance to showcase their talents by performing a routine to entertain the crowd. Local organizations sold food items and businesses provided other refreshments. Thanks to Deb Rentschler for helping to organize the event, as well as staff members who worked that day, both from the Bank and Russell Insurance Group. Much fun was had by all!
ADAMS COUNTY LITERACY COUNCIL SPELLING BEE
Every year, the Adams County Literacy Council puts on its annual spelling bee in order to raise funds for its scholarship program. Local organizations enter teams of three people, and each team competes against each other, spelling words given to them by the moderator. For the sixth year in a row, the Bank entered a team into this event. Jeff Pottorff, Nicole Redden, and Anne Turley represented the Bank in the spelling bee this year and took their turns spelling some challenging words. The team did a tremendous job, coming in second place in the contest!
