THE BRETHREN HOME WALK-A-THON
Each year in October, The Brethren Home in New Oxford conducts a walk-a-thon for its residents. Part of this walk-a-thon includes a rolling division for residents who are confined to wheelchairs. The Brethren Home looks to local organizations to provide volunteers to accompany the residents around the course. For the past several years, Bank staff members have lended a helping hand (and feet!) in this event.
DILLSBURG FARMER'S FAIR
For more than 90 years, Dillsburg has held its annual Farmers Fair. This event, which is several days long, culminates in a celebration on Saturday, which includes a craft show, food vendors, a parade, games for children, and many other activities. In 2007, the final day was Saturday, October 20. The Bank set up a booth at the event, and was able to have a spot right in the middle of all the action! Bank staff members gave away free popcorn and had face-painting for children. They enjoyed chatting with hundreds of visitors who stopped by.
NATIONAL GET SMART ABOUT CREDIT DAY
Bank staff members conducted presentations in area schools in conjunction with National Get Smart About Credit Day, sponsored by the American Bankers Association Education Foundation (ABAEF), a day when bankers across the country visit their local schools to teach students the importance of credit. The schools and organizations involved included Biglerville High School, Big Spring High School in Newville, and Lincoln Intermediate Unit in New Oxford. Additional presentations are planned in Fairfield High School, Northern High School in Dillsburg, and Delone Catholic High School in McSherrystown.
GETTYSBURG ADAMS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BUSINESS EXPO AND THE GREATER CARLISLE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BUSINESS SHOWCASE
Fourth Quarter 2007 brought the arrival of the annual business shows: the Gettysburg Adams Chamber of Commerce Business Expo and the Greater Carlisle Area Chamber of Commerce Business Showcase. The Gettysburg Adams Chamber’s Business Expo took place on Tuesday, October 30; the Carlisle show took place on Tuesday, November 13. At each event, Bank staff members set up a booth with the theme of “There’s No Place Like Home” taken from the movie, The Wizard of Oz.
