MULTIFACTOR AUTHENTICATION / ENHANCED LOGIN SECURITY INFORMATION

Your online security is high priority at Adams County National Bank.

WHAT IS MULTIFACTOR AUTHENTICATION (MFA)?

Overview
To satisfy the new Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) strong authentication guidance deadline of December 31, 2006, Adams County National Bank has implemented MFA, which we are calling Enhanced Login Security.

Enhanced Login Security strengthens security at login by identifying the user's computer and browser, in addition to the user ID and password. Enhanced Login Security protects against online fraud by providing you with an additional authentication "factor" beyond the user ID and password used today, resulting in superior security with minimal change in your login experience. The solution was designed to preserve the convenience and usability of your Internet Banking accounts.

  Features of Enhanced Login Security:

  • A browser-based secure cookie with an individualized credential (ID) is stored on the user's computer and browser as an additional factor beyond the use of the user ID and password
  • End users enroll each computer on which they plan to conduct Internet Banking activities by accessing User Options and click on the Enhanced Login Security link
  • This additional security prevents unauthorized access using stolen credentials on a non-enrolled computer
  • Users can have temporary access on a computer they do not wish to enroll, by answering two Challenge Questions they previously set up
  • Users can un-enroll a computer they no longer wish to use for Internet Banking by accessing User Options and click on the Enhanced Login Security link and un-enroll the computer

     Benefits of Enhanced Login Security:
  • Provides peace of mind regarding Internet Banking authentication
  • Easy for users-once enrolled, there is little difference in the login process
  • Usable anywhere at any time
  • Users can enroll any number of computers/browsers
  • Protects against phishing, pharming and dictionary attacks and keystroke logging viruses
  • Robust protection against unauthorized access, even with stolen password credentials

What to Expect on or after January 8, 2007:
  • If you have not previously added Enhanced Login Security to your computer/browser, the first time you log into Internet Banking after January 8, 2007, you will be prompted to set up two questions and answers, one each from two new sets of questions
  • The Enhanced Login Security and the Forgotten Password feature will both utilize the Challenge Questions and answer functionality currently in place for Forgotten Password
  • You must submit two questions and answers in order to access Internet Banking
  • The questions are new and easier to remember and may be reset at anytime by clicking on User Options and then Challenge Questions
  • The answers to the Challenge Questions are NOT case sensitive
  • Once the Challenge Questions have been set up, you have the option to enable Enhanced Login Security for your Internet Banking account on that computer/browser via an Enhanced Login Security Prompt screen or by clicking on the User Options menu and click on the Enhanced Login Security link
  • You are required to enroll to conform with the FFIEC guidelines

    Enroll a Computer/Browser:
  • To enroll your computer/browser, click on the Enhanced Login Security Prompt screen or click User Options and click the Enhanced Login Security link
  • On the Enhanced Login Security screen, leave the first radio button selected and click submit
  • On the popup window, click OK
  • The Enhanced Login Security feature puts a cookie on the browser and a success screen displays
    Tips-
  • You can enroll as many computers and browsers as you wish
  • Once you enroll your first computer, you are now enrolled in the Enhanced Login Security feature
  • Once a computer/browser is enrolled, you will see nothing different at future logins to Internet Banking from that computer using that browser

    Unenroll a Computer/Browser:
  • Using the computer and browser you wish to unenroll, log into Internet Banking and click on User Options and click Enhanced Login Security
  • On the Enhanced Login Security screen, select the second radio button and click submit
  • On the popup window, click OK. The Enhanced Login Security removes the cookie from the browser on that computer and a success screen displays
    Tips-
  • You may wish to unenroll a computer if you are giving the computer away or you no longer plan to use the computer to access your Internet Banking account
  • You are still enrolled in Enhanced Login Security because you answered the Challenge Questions. So, as long as you log in from any unenrolled computer, you will have to provide the answer to the Challenge Questions (This is Temporary Access)

Temporary Access from an Unenrolled Computer or Browser:
Step One: Enrolled user logs into Internet Banking from an unenrolled computer or browser
Step Two: System displays a screen with the user's two Challenge Questions
Step Three: User enters the answers and is taken to Internet Banking
Step Four: You may enroll this computer by following procedures above for Enroll a Computer/Browser

    Important Tips:
  • The Challenge Questions are the same questions used for the Forgotten Password Option
  • If you forget your password, it is better to reset your password using the Options link, Forgotten Password link on the Web page beneath the log in fields versus having the Bank reset your password. If the Bank resets your password, you must answer Challenge Questions and re-enroll your computer/browser for Enhanced Login Security
  • If you forget your Challenge Questions, please contact us at 1.888.334.ACNB (2262)
  • If you clear your cache and cookies for any reason, you will need to re-enroll your computer via Enhanced Login Security under User Options; however, first you will be required to answer the Challenge Questions
  • If you access Internet Banking on an enrolled computer with a different browser, you will be prompted to answer the Challenge Questions
  • After answering the Challenge Questions, you may enroll the additional browser by clicking on User Options and then Enhanced Login Security
