ADAMS COUNTY NATIONAL BANK
 SPONSORS SUCCESSFUL SHREDDING EVENT

GETTYSBURG, Pa., June 2 --- Cars were lined up out the parking lot and onto V-Twin Drive for Adams County National Bank's shredding event, which took place on Saturday, April 19. The event, free for the general public, was held at the Bank's Operations Center in Gettysburg. The Bank sponsored the event in conjunction with the company Shred-It, a shredding and recycling firm. The old, personal, confidential documents that people brought to be shredded turned into 8,000 pounds of confetti-sized, recyclable material. This material can now be reused to manufacture household paper products.

“We were pleased to offer the shredding event free to the general public,” said Sandy Deaner, Senior Vice President & Human Resources Manager for the Bank. “It's rewarding to know that we helped keep 8,000 pounds of old documents from being put in a landfill.”

Helen A. Jahn, Vice President & Marketing Manager for the Bank, agreed. “The response from the public was amazing. Unfortunately, we had to turn away several people as the event went on. In fact, the last car left at 11:00 a.m., but the shredding continued until 1:15 p.m., more than two hours beyond the original end-time. We were sorry to turn people away. We hope to have another event in the fall and will announce the details once they've been finalized.”

Mrs. Jahn continued, “We're thankful that Shred-it was able to remain on-site until the shredding was done, and also grateful for the help and support of Bicky Redman, Director of the Department of Environmental Services and Co-Coordinator of the Forest Legacy Preservation program for the County of Adams. She graciously volunteered her time that day to help us.”
